Student Submission

In order to submit your MCGI application you must have 4 artworks prepared. Images of your artwork may be submitted as png, jpg, jpeg, gif, or pdf files. File sizes should not exceed 7MB each, or 30MB total. Please have your submission materials ready before beginning the application. If you close the submission application before pressing "submit" your information will not be saved.

Awards and Scholarships

All submissions will be eligible for a variety of cash prizes (see Cash Prizes, below). If you would also like to apply for workshop or college scholarships, please select them below.

Workshop Scholarships:

Before applying to a workshop scholarship, please ensure you will be available to attend.

Pittsburgh Glass Center Workshop
  • Eligibility:
    • Sculpture
  • Description:
    Two students will win a free workshop of their choice at Pittsburgh Glass Center valued at up to $550 for freshmen (9th grade) and sophomores (10th grade) and up to $750 for students of all grades and levels (age 14+).
Touchstone Center for Crafts
  • Eligibility:
    • Available to attend Teen Week during summer 2021.
  • Description:
    Touchstone Center for Crafts will award two students with a scholarship to attend Teen Week free of charge ($1,200 value). More information including dates of Teen Week can be found at touchstonecrafts.org.
Fallingwater Institute
  • Eligibility:
    • Available to attend a week-long residency or Virtual Summer Camp in Summer 2021.
    • Entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in Fall 2021
  • Description:
    Fallingwater Institute will award one student with a scholarship to attend a week-long residency or Virual Summer Camp of their choice (up to $1,200 value) in Summer 2021. More information can be found at Fallingwater.org/education/fallingwater-institute/.
Steeltown Entertainment Project
Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts
  • Eligibility:
    • 18+ years old at time of workshop
  • Description:
    Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts will award one student with a full scholarship to a workshop of their choice, including tuition, food, and lodging ($1100 value). More information can be found at www.arrowmont.org/. MCG Youth & Arts provides need-based assistance to support transportation to and from Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

To receive the following scholarships, you must apply and be accepted to the applicable program.

Bethany College Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Bethany College
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive a Bethany College Scholarship up to $20,000 per year for four years, depending on high-school transcript. MCG students will receive an additional $1,000 per year.
Slippery Rock University Arts Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Slippery Rock University's Art Program
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Two students will receive $1,500 to attend Slippery Rock University's Art Program.
La Roche University Scholarship (Seniors)
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to La Roche University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One senior student will receive $2,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $8,000 total) to attend La Roche University. Must attend La Roche University as a first and full time freshman to be eligible. This scholarship must be considered a financial aid resource, according to federal guidelines. The scholarship is stackable with other La Roche University scholarships, such as our merit scholarship.
La Roche University Scholarship (Juniors)
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to La Roche University
    • High school junior (11th grade)
  • Description:
    One junior student will receive $2,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $8,000 total) to attend La Roche University. Must attend La Roche University as a first and full time freshman to be eligible. This scholarship must be considered a financial aid resource, according to federal guidelines. The scholarship is stackable with other La Roche University scholarships, such as our merit scholarship.
Carlow University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to an art-related program at Carlow University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive $3,000 ($3,000 total) to attend Carlow University.
CCAC Educational Foundation Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to CCAC
    • Graduate high school with a 2.75+ GPA
  • Description:
    One student will receive $400 to attend CCAC.
Chatham University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Chatham University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate high school with a 3.0+ GPA
    • Pittsburgh Public School student
  • Description:
    One student will receive $1,000 per year for up to 4 years or 120 credits (up to $4,000 total) to attend Chatham University.
Westminster College Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Westminster College
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate high school with a 3.0 GPA
  • Description:
    Three students will receive $1,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $4,000 total) to attend Westminster College.
Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCAD) Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to PCAD
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Two students will receive $3,000 per year for up to 4 years to attend Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.
Eleanor Friedberg Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • High school junior (11th grade) or senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Six students will receive scholarships up to $6,300 based on a full portfolio submission to attend the four year school of their choice.

Cash Prizes:

All students will be entered automatically to win cash prizes. To win prizes with specific eligibility requirements (for example, ceramics) you must submit work that meets those requirements.

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will award one student a cash prize.
Academy of Science and Art
  • Eligibility:
    • Photography
  • Description:
    Academy of Science and Art will award five students with $200 each.
The Andy Warhol Museum
  • Eligibility:
    • High school junior (11th grade) or senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    The Andy Warhol Museum will award a $500 cash prize to one high school junior or senior who's work best reflects the art and life of Andy Warhol.
Standard Ceramic Supply
  • Eligibility:
    • Ceramics
  • Description:
    Standard Ceramic Supply will award a $250 cash prize to one student.
Dorothy Raizman
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Dorothy Raizman will award a $500 cash prize to four students.
Eleanor Friedberg Media Award
  • Eligibility:
  • Description:
    18 students will receive cash prizes based on single artworks in 6 different categories. 1st place in each category will receive $350, 2nd place $250, 3rd place $100. The categories are: Media -- Craft & Design, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking & Collage, Sculpture & Ceramics, Video, Electronic, & STEM
MCG Youth & Arts Cash Prize
  • Eligibility:
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive a $500 cash prize.

MCG will take a 25% commission to help maintain the event. All pieces are insured for the sale price up to $200.
