In order to submit your MCGI application you must have 4 artworks prepared. File sizes should not exceed 100MB each. Please have your submission materials ready before beginning the application. If you close the submission application, you will lose your progress.

Awards and Scholarships

All submissions will be eligible for a variety of cash prizes. If you would also like to apply for workshop or college scholarships, please select them below.

Workshop Scholarships

Before applying to a workshop scholarship, please ensure you will be available to attend.

Rivers of Steel Arts Workshops
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Rivers of Steel Arts will award two workshop scholarships: one Graffiti Arts Workshop & one Blacksmithing Basics Workshop.
Pittsburgh Glass Center Workshop Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • 3D Sculpture or 3D functional work
    • Grades 9-12
  • Description:
    Pittsburgh Glass Center will award two students with a workshop scholarship valued at up to $450.
Contemporary Craft Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Interest in Wood Working, Fibers, & Metals
    • Grades 9-12
  • Description:
    Workshop scholarships valued at up to $150 each in a wood, metal, and fiber workshop.
Fallingwater Workshop Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • 9th-12th Grade Students
    • Requires availability for one week during summer months, either online or in-person at Fallingwater
  • Description:
    Fallingwater will award one student with a workshop scholarship valued between $250-$1,300.
Craftsmen's Guild of Pittsburgh Scholarships
  • Eligibility:
    • Enrolled in an accredited college or university
    • Majoring in arts related education
  • Description:
    Craftsmen's Guild of Pittsburgh will award four students with a $250 Cash Award.

Scholarships for Applying Students

To receive the following scholarships, you must apply and be accepted to the applicable program.

Eleanor Friedberg Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • High School Senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Six students will receive scholarships valued up to $6,300, based on a full portfolio submission to attend the four-year school of their choice.
Carlow University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • High School Senior (12th grade)
    • Acceptance to Carlow
  • Description:
    Carlow University will award one student with a $3,000 scholarship.

Cash Prizes

All students will be entered automatically to win cash prizes. To win prizes with specific eligibility requirements (for example, ceramics) you must submit work that meets those requirements.

Pittsburgh Photo Club Cash Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Photography Students
  • Description:
    The Pittsburgh Photo Club will award two students with $250 cash prize.
Eleanor Friedberg Cash Awards
  • Eligibility:
    • Grades 9-12
  • Description:
    Sponsored by Eleanor Friedberg, these awards are available across multiple categories for students in grades 9-12.
    Each category will award three students with cash prizes: 1st place $350, 2nd place $250, 3rd place $100. The categories include:
    - Media - Craft & Design
    - Painting and Drawing
    - Photography
    - Printmaking & Mixed Media
    - Sculpture & Ceramics
    - Video, Electronic, and STEAM
    - Textiles
Standard Ceramics Cash Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Ceramics Students Grades 9-12
  • Description:
    Standard Ceramics will award one student with a $250 cash prize.
The Andy Warhol Museum Cash Award
  • Eligibility:
    • A Junior or Senior
  • Description:
    The Andy Warhol Museum will award one student with a $500 cash prize.
The Mattress Factory Cash Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Northside Artists in grades 9-12 who live in 15212, 15214, or 15233 zipcodes
  • Description:
    The Mattress Factory will award one student with a $300 cash prize.
MCG Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Grade 9-12
  • Description:
    MCG will award three cash awards: $1,000, $500, and $250.
Bill & Rose Strickland Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Grade 12
  • Description:
    Bill & Rose Strickland will award one student with a $500 cash prize.
Dale & Betsy Huffman Award for the Ceramic Arts
  • Eligibility:
    • Non-CAPA Ceramics Students
  • Description:
    Dale & Betsy Huffman will award five $50 cash awards.
Associated Artists of Pittsburgh
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will award one student with a $116 cash prize.
The Larissa Osby Award for Painting
  • Eligibility:
    • Painting media
  • Description:
    One student will be awarded a $200 cash prize.
Rachel & Katie Rearick Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Grades 9-12 in Jewelry or Ceramic
  • Description:
    One student will be awarded a $250 cash prize.
David & Katya Meyer Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Grades 9-12 3D work
  • Description:
    One student will be awarded a $500 cash prize.
